Signage Contractor for Projects in Abu Dhabi | Wayfinding, Directory & Site Signage
Signage contractor for construction, fit-out and facility projects in Abu Dhabi — wayfinding, building directories, floor and stair signs, safety and site signage, from shop drawings to installation. Call +971 2 621 3369.
If you are a main contractor, MEP subcontractor, fit-out company, or facilities management team working on a project in Abu Dhabi, you will at some point need a signage package. It might be a full wayfinding system for a new building, a set of room identification plates for a fit-out, safety signs for a construction site, or a project identification board for the hoarding. Whatever the scope, you need a signage contractor who understands how projects work — not just how to make signs.
At Point to Point Advertising Designs LLC, we work as a signage subcontractor on construction, fit-out, and facility projects across Abu Dhabi and the UAE. We have our own factory in Musaffah, which means we control production, lead times, and quality directly. This article explains what we do, how we work with project teams, and what to expect when you bring us in as your signage contractor.
What a Project Signage Contractor Does
A signage contractor on a construction or fit-out project is responsible for more than just making signs. The role typically includes reviewing the consultant's signage specification, preparing shop drawings and material submittals for approval, producing samples, manufacturing the approved signs in the correct materials and finishes, delivering to site, and installing to the agreed programme.
On larger projects, the signage contractor also coordinates with the main contractor's site team on access, permits to work, and the sequence of installation — particularly where signage is being fixed to finished surfaces or in occupied areas.
We handle all of this. Our team is experienced in working within the formal submittal and approval process that most projects in Abu Dhabi require, and we understand the documentation that consultants and client representatives expect to see before production begins.
The Signage Package on a Typical Project
The scope of signage on a building project varies depending on the type and size of the development, but most packages include some combination of the following:
Wayfinding and directional signs guide people through a building or site. These are typically wall-mounted or freestanding panels with directional arrows and bilingual text in English and Arabic. They are found at building entrances, lift lobbies, corridor junctions, and car park levels.
Building directory signs list the tenants, departments, or services within a building, usually at the main entrance or reception. They are produced in a range of materials — aluminium, stainless steel, acrylic — and updated as occupancy changes.
Room identification plates are fixed to doors or walls to identify individual rooms, offices, and facilities. On most projects in Abu Dhabi, these are bilingual. We produce them in stainless steel, aluminium, acrylic, and brass, with engraved or printed text depending on the specification.
Stair and level identification signs are fixed inside stairwells to identify the stair number, the level, and the exit route. They are a fire safety requirement on most buildings and must comply with the relevant civil defence standards.
Safety and fire signs include fire exit signs, fire equipment location signs, assembly point signs, and general health and safety signage. We produce these to ISO 7010 and UAE civil defence standards. See our post on safety signs and compliance in the UAE for more detail on the standards that apply.
External building and project signs include the project identification board at the site entrance — showing the owner, consultant, and contractor — as well as building name signs, entrance signs, and car park identification.
How We Work with Main Contractors
We understand that main contractors and fit-out companies need a signage subcontractor who fits into the project process without creating extra work for the site team. Here is how we typically work:
BOQ pricing. If you have a bill of quantities or a signage schedule, send it to us and we will price it. We can work from a consultant's specification, a drawing set, or a room schedule. If the scope is not yet fully defined, we can provide indicative rates to help with your tender.
Shop drawings. Once we are appointed, we prepare shop drawings for each sign type showing dimensions, materials, finishes, fixing details, and text layout. These are submitted to the consultant or client representative for approval before production begins.
Material submittals and samples. We prepare material submittals showing the proposed materials, finishes, and colours, supported by physical samples where required. This is a standard part of the approval process on most projects, and we are familiar with the level of detail that consultants expect.
Production in our Musaffah factory. Once submittals are approved, we manufacture the signs in our own workshop. We do not outsource production. This gives us direct control over quality and lead times, which matters when a project is running to a tight programme.
Delivery and installation. We deliver to site and install to the agreed programme. Our installation team works to site HSE rules, holds the required permits to work, and coordinates with the main contractor's site team on access and sequencing.
Handover documentation. At the end of the project, we provide as-built records and any other documentation required for handover.
Working to Consultant Specs and Site HSE Rules
Most signage specifications on Abu Dhabi projects reference specific materials, finishes, and fixing methods. We read and work to these specifications rather than substituting our own preferences. If a specification calls for a particular grade of stainless steel, a specific surface finish, or a defined text height, we follow it.
We are also familiar with the HSE requirements that apply to working on active construction and fit-out sites in Abu Dhabi — induction requirements, permit-to-work systems, PPE, and the documentation that site managers need before our team can start work. We handle this as a normal part of the job, not as an afterthought.
For projects that require engraved metal plates — room name plates, equipment labels, or commemorative plaques — we produce these in our own workshop as part of the same package. There is no need to split the signage scope between multiple suppliers.
Why a Local Factory Helps Project Timelines
One of the practical advantages of working with a Musaffah-based factory is the ability to respond quickly when something changes on site — and on most projects, something always does. Room layouts change, text is revised, additional signs are added to the scope, or a delivery is needed ahead of the original programme.
When we manufacture in our own workshop, we can accommodate these changes without the delays that come with ordering from overseas or through a supplier who does not control their own production. We can also arrange for site visits and sample reviews at short notice, which helps keep the approval process moving.
Our workshop is in Musaffah 39, and our office is in Musaffah 36. We are close to the main industrial areas of Abu Dhabi, which makes logistics straightforward for most project sites in the emirate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you prepare shop drawings and material submittals? Yes. We prepare shop drawings and material submittals as a standard part of our project process. These are submitted to the consultant or client representative for approval before production begins. We are familiar with the level of detail and the format that most consultants in Abu Dhabi expect.
Can you price from a BOQ or signage schedule? Yes. Send us your BOQ, signage schedule, or specification and we will provide a priced submission. If you are at tender stage and the scope is not yet fully defined, we can provide indicative rates to support your bid. Contact us or email your documents directly to info@pointtopoint.ae.
Do you carry out installation as well as supply? Yes. We supply and install. Our installation team works to site HSE rules, holds the required permits to work, and coordinates with the main contractor's site team on access and programme. We do not supply-only unless that is specifically what the project requires.
Do you handle authority approvals for signage? We prepare the documentation — shop drawings, material submittals, samples — that is typically required for consultant and client approval on a project. For signage that requires a separate authority approval (for example, external building signage that needs a municipality permit), we can advise on the process and support the application. The specific requirements vary by project type and location.
Can you supply signage across the UAE, not just Abu Dhabi? Yes. We work on projects across the UAE, including Dubai, Al Ain, KEZAD, ICAD, and other locations. Our factory is in Musaffah, Abu Dhabi, and we deliver and install across the country. For projects outside Abu Dhabi, lead times and logistics are factored into our programme from the start.
